Re-Elect Judge Lane
Fulton County Superior Court
Vote November 4th, 2008!
Dear Friends:
Thank you for visiting my website and for showing your confidence
by re-electing me in the past. What a wonderful challenge and
opportunity I have had for the past eleven years to serve the
citizens of Fulton County, first as a traffic court judge and
for the past nine years as the incumbent on the Fulton County
Superior Court bench.
There has been much debate about
what a judicial candidate ethically can or should comment on.
I know I can't make promises or tell you how I might rule on certain
issues. I can't offer my opinion on abortion, on gay rights, the
pros or cons of gun control, the death penalty, moral decay or
domestic violence. However, there are certain things I can promise.
-
I promise to continue to competently
rule on the complex issues presented in determining civil disputes,
including corporate and contract litigation, property rights,
personal injury and family law.
-
I promise to be ever aware
of the rights of victims of crime. I view the victims of crime
to be larger than the person who got shot or the person who
got held up. I am mindful that the families of that person are
victims too. I am mindful that victims include the mothers of
murdered sons, the sisters of tortured brothers, the parents
of the accused and children of imprisoned parents. Victims also
include those who never made it into court statistics, those
who never told, are never found or for whatever reason are not
counted. And of course society is a real victim of every breach
of the peace and of every crime.
-
I promise, as I have been
in the past, to continue to be aware of the rights of defendants
as their rights have been defined and guaranteed by the United
States and the Georgia constitutions.
-
I promise, as I have done
in the past, to think deeply and to act decisively on all civil
and criminal matters brought before the Court.
-
I promise in my judgments
to honor the rights of individuals and to not be a respecter
of the rich or the poor.
-
I promise to be fair.
These are promises I can make
in good conscience. These are promises that I have kept in the
past and that I can assure you will be honored as long as I am
on the bench.
I do not make these promises lightly - they are my duty and my
oath.
Please support me and vote for
me on November 4th, 2008.
Sincerely,
Bensonetta Tipton Lane, Judge
Fulton County Superior Court
